I started this series on my birthday, a week after moving to Berlin. I see it as a return to a subject I’ve explored before in my “plastic people” series.
Here it’s an exercise fueled by isolation, being in a new city, lacking human subjects and social anchors. The mannequins reflect my own state of transition and the specific loneliness of a fresh start.
The series will naturally conclude when I will no longer feel like a stranger, once the city feels like home.
